How junk removal pricing works in Kamloops
Here is what drives the number, what is already included, and what the landfill charges before we do. Call or text with a photo and you get a firm price before we start.
What drives the price
Volume
How much room the load takes up in the truck or the bin. A quarter load costs a quarter of a full load, so you are never paying for space you did not use.
Weight
The landfill charges by the tonne. Shingles, concrete, dirt and plaster weigh far more than furniture, so heavy material costs more even at the same volume.
Labour and access
A pile in the driveway is quicker than a third-floor walk-up or a crawlspace. We factor it into the quote up front rather than adding it at the end.

How we size a job
Price depends on how much of the truck your load takes up, so this is the scale we quote against. Tell us roughly which row you are in and we will give you a firm number before we start, usually in a couple of minutes over the phone.

What the landfill charges before we do
Disposal fees are part of every quote, so it helps to know what the City of Kamloops charges at the gate. These are the Mission Flats Landfill rates, checked September 12, 2026:
- Household garbage is $90 a tonne, with a $10 minimum for loads up to 60 kg (2026 rates).
- Surcharges: $10 per couch or other bulky furniture item, $20 per residential mattress or box spring.
- Mixed demolition and construction waste is $250 a tonne. Mixed loads are charged at the highest rate that applies.
That is why weight matters more than volume, and why a sorted load costs less than a mixed one. Every Kamloops dump and eco-depot, with hours, fees and directions.
Pricing questions
How is a junk removal price worked out?
Three things: how much space the load takes in the truck, how heavy it is at the scale, and how much labour it takes to get it out. A garage of light household junk costs less than the same volume of concrete or shingles, because weight is what the landfill charges on.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes, in person or over the phone, and there is no obligation. Full disclosure, no hidden fees.
Will the price change once you see the job?
The quote is the price. If you add to the pile after we quote it we will tell you what that changes before we load it, not after.
Do you take single items?
Yes. One item is a normal job with its own quote: a mattress, a fridge, a couch or a hot tub. Call or text with what it is and where it is, and we will quote it.
Is a bin cheaper than full service?
It depends on the job. A bin is usually cheaper when you have days to fill it and hands to do the loading. Full service is usually cheaper on your time and often on your back. Describe the job on the phone and we will tell you honestly which one costs you less.
