What the job actually involves
Yard waste is light until you have to move it twice. Brush and branches are awkward to load, sod and soil are heavy, and a spring clean-up usually turns up the broken planters, the rotten fence boards and the pile behind the shed as well. We load all of it from where it sits and keep the green waste apart from the garbage on the way out.
The City of Kamloops runs two yard waste sites, Cinnamon Ridge and Bunker Road, and residential yard waste is free to drop at the TNRD eco-depots, so what you are paying us for is the loading and the trips, not the tipping. If you have a truck and the time, the sites below show where to take it yourself.
What we take

Before we arrive
- Pile the brush in one place if you can, cut ends facing the same way
- Keep soil and rock separate from the green waste
- Tell us if the pile is behind a fence or down a slope
- Bag the leaves and the small stuff
Heavy material
Sod, soil, rock and gravel weigh far more than they look. A few wheelbarrows of soil is a real load, and for a full re-landscape a bin is usually the better fit. Tell us what is in the pile and we will say which way costs less.

Where yard waste goes
Green waste is kept apart from the rest of the load. The City’s two yard waste sites take grass, garden waste and prunings; sod and dirt go to a landfill instead. These are the sites and the 2026 rates.
Cinnamon Ridge Compost Facility and Yard Waste Site
Kamloops, north shore. April 1 to October 31: Every day, 10 am to 6 pm. November 1 to March 31: Every day, 10 am to 4 pm.
Credit and debit only.
Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Takes grass clippings, garden waste, and tree prunings and trunks up to 24 inches across (anything larger must be split).
- Sod and dirt are not accepted at the yard waste sites; the City landfills take them at $20 a tonne (2026 rates).
Bunker Road Recycling Depot and Yard Waste Site
Kamloops, Valleyview side. Yard waste site: Every day, 10 am to 6 pm. Recycling depot: Open 24 hours a day.

The yard waste site closes every year from December 1 to March 1.

Barnhartvale Landfill
Kamloops, east side. Friday to Monday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Cash only.
Closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The yard waste site closes December 1 to March 1.
- Priced by the load, not the tonne: a full car or SUV load is $20, a full pickup load is $30 (2026 rates).
TNRD eco-depot fees
- Household garbage: $94.50 a tonne, $5 minimum
- Residential yard waste: Free

Yard waste questions
Do you take soil and rock?
Yes, in reasonable amounts. Soil, sod, rock and gravel are heavy, so tell us roughly how much there is. For a whole yard of it, a bin is usually the better fit.
Does the brush need to be cut up?
It helps. Branches cut to a length that fits across the truck load faster, and faster loading is a lower price. It is not required.
Can you get into the back yard?
Usually. We carry out through the gate or over the fence. Send a photo of the access when you book so the right crew comes.
Do you take the old fence and the shed too?
Yes. Fence panels, decking boards, a shed that has come down and the planters that did not survive the winter all go on the same trip as the brush.
Is there a cheaper way to do this myself?
